We had a great experience at Cartel today. I bought my son in because he wanted to talk to someone more knowledgeable than myself about what to do with his hair. Dylan took the time to go over his options and what he should do moving forward. He also walked out with a great cut. Now this is the only place my son wants to go to for his hair. Booked an appointment the night before with Devin, and what a friendly guy he was, i was lucky to have chosen the right person. I wanted to get a haircut at least once during my travels in america from australia, and he didn't disappoint me at all. I told him that despite the fact that i got a haircut about 10 days ago prior to arriving here, i wanted to get one for the sake of it and to tidy it up a bit more. He did a stellar job at looking after me and my hair, spending way more time than i had really expected, i could tell he put lots of effort and meticulous care into making this perfect for me, and it really was! I felt great, and i could tell he knew what he was doing and was up to date with styles and trends. We had a good chat and he even went out of his way to accomodate and suggest places and things to do while i was in nyc. Super awesome guy and a really neat shop.

Got a hair cut by Sebastian recently and it was definitely the best haircut I’ve gotten! His service was amazing and knew exactly how to cut my hair to the shape of my head. He also taught me how to style my hair so it doesn’t look like I leave with bed hair every morning. Other than that the barbershop was clean and a great atmosphere!
I came here cause I saw Sebastians work on ig and I knew I would be able to trust him with my little brothers haircut. I live in the city but unfortunately my brother is two hours away from Cartel Hair Studio but whenever he’s on break or summer vacation he gets his hair done here and only here. He will literally grow his hair into a mop before he lets anyone else do his hair.
My son refused to get his hair cut anywhere else- yet trusted Seb with his style and skills. More than happy with results- will def be returning.
I stopped by Cartel last week for my first chop w Ben. I was immediately impressed with the large clean space, Brazilian bossanova lightly bumping from the sound system, and Ben finishing up with another client. After a short wait, I was greeted by Ben and seated. I was asked which direction I wanted to go with my haircut and after some consultation Ben got right to it. Ben was a consummate gentleman and professional. He delved into light convos about life, work, and growing up in NYC. He was very cordial, but more importantly his cutting abilities were excellent. My head is not the easiest to shape up due to the dips and valleys around my nape, but he really went the extra distance to make sure that my fade was consistent and symmetrical. It has been a long time since I have returned home after a chop, to see my wife as surprised and happy by a visit to the barber, but on this day she was. In addition, while most folks don't comment on the mess that is left behind after a haircut, Ben was very tidy, leaving almost no hair on my face and in my hair. There was little to no remnants which I also appreciated. In the end, I was very happy with the end result and think I have found my new go-to spot for when I want to look my best. I want to thank Ben for a pleasant experience and look forward to the next one.
